Jim is a diligent and thoughtful attorney who utilizes his years of experience to provide comprehensive litigation services on state and federal court cases. He has litigated a wide variety of cases, ranging from defending healthcare providers in criminal false claims act investigations, to prosecuting a multi-million dollar tax refund claim, to defending a local business in a complex employment matter involving allegations of civil securities violations.  After graduating law school magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine in 2015, Jim learned the business of complex litigation at the Orange County office of Greenberg Gross, LLP, a successful litigation boutique specializing in high-stakes business cases.

Jim has been praised by peers and clients alike for his ability to quickly identify big picture issues and themes, and to efficiently carve a path towards successful resolutions of problems.  Jim also excels at legal writing and has a keen interest in the academic aspects of the law that drives a judge’s or arbitrator’s ultimate decision. 

Jim's experience includes:

  • Deposed key witnesses and drafted a successful opposition to a dispositive motion in a Lanham Act unfair competition action involving complex technological issues;

  • Drafted a motion for summary judgment in complex tax refund case involving the treatment of an S-Corporation’s cancellation of indebtedness income under the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2001 Gitlitz v. Comm’r decision (531 U.S. 206 (2001));

  • Managed the document review process, developed and maintained chronology and analysis of key events, and assisted in drafting arbitration submissions on behalf of an employer in an executive compensation/securities dispute;

  • Drafted research memoranda and an arbitration demand in connection with a federal investigation and related employer civil action against a financial adviser accused of various Advisers, Securities, and Exchange Act violations;

  • Reviewed and analyzed hundreds of lab notebook pages and drafted a highly technical section of a motion in a false claims action arising from a name brand vs. generic pharmaceutical manufacturer patent dispute;

  • Researched applicable rules and regulations and advised a large out-of-state manufacturer on California Proposition 65 compliance;

  • Drafted a complaint arising from a foiled solicitation-to-commit-murder scheme;

  • Acted as the primary attorney responsible for document collection, analysis, production, and management in several large cases spanning multiple jurisdictions.

Jim is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Orange County Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

During law school, Jim was a member of the Appellate Litigation Clinic, where he worked on an appeal and conducted an oral argument before the Ninth Circuit. He also served as a legal research assistant to Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, and worked with him on an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Jim also performed volunteer work for the Iraqi Refugee Assistant Project and twice participated in UCI’s Experian/Jones Day Moot Court.
